Four Ways To Bring More Value In Your Life
For most, they spend all their time doing and nowhere near enough time being. The world is busy and we have lots of tasks, challenges and chores every day, but if all we ever do, is the doing, when do you get to experience the being?
You’re not a human doer, you’re a human being!
• Be more inquisitive
• Be more humble
• Be more questioning
• Be more inspired
• Be more positive
• Be more. Period!
If all you ever do is get caught up in the doing, the job, the business, the rituals, you never learn anything new, you don’t grow, you don’t develop and you don’t bring any more value to the world.
You don’t have to work harder to achieve more (hard work is important BTW – but it’s not the only thing).
But if you must work harder, work harder on yourself, work hard in learning more, work hard on becoming more, work hard on adding more value to the world.
Here are a few ways you can work harder on YOU than you do on your daily chores:
1. READ MORE –
Warren Buffett was once asked about the key to success, he pointed to a stack of nearby books and said, “Read 500 pages like this every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it.”
The learners are the earners, the more you learn, the more you earn. Learning allows you to bring more value!
2. LEARN NEW SKILLS –
Up your game, be that for your job, your career or your business. Those with more knowledge, more value, command higher salaries and fees. The manager earns more than the team, the director earns more than the manager and the CEO earns more than the Director.
This is all linked to acquired skills that make them more valuable.
3. EXPERIENCE MORE –
Don’t fall into the same routine of crashing out at the end of each day, go for walks, taste the food, take a class.
Travel, meet people, make conversation with others, fail at things.
Failure is a great teacher.
4. ASK QUESTIONS –
Don’t settle for less, have a thirst for more, ask questions, if you don’t understand something, research it, be inquisitive, ask silly questions, always look for ways to educate yourself.
The quality of the questions you ask will determine the quality of your life.
Don’t ask bad questions, they only give bad answers, ask good quality questions. Don’t ask ‘why can’t I move forward in life’, ask ‘what can I do to move forward in life’.
Put these suggestions to the test and I promise you, once you start to become more, you will start to get more.
