80% of success is mental, 20% is physical

So recently I shared an image across social media that outlined success is 80% mental & 20% physical, I wanted to expand on this share, and open this up to give a better explanation.

You may have heard of the Pareto Principle, better known as the 80/20 rule. Which basically states that 80% of your business comes from 20% of your clients, you spend 80% of your time with 20% of your friends etc. You get the picture…

Well, the same principle applies to success in business and life, 80% is whats floating around your head, and 20% is from the activities you deliver. Many people have a story for every eventuality, and the story never ends well.

We make decisions for people, create a way of thinking that instantly defeats ourself and because we have been doing this for so long, we actually believe it!

Many people set themselves up to fail simply by getting in their own way. Sure they have great goals, and blueprints on how they will bring success to their life and business. But the tale they constantly repeat to themselves states the opposite.

This in turn effects their attitude which stops us from taking the necessary action to move forward and see through our goals… and the cycle continues.

The good news is that the same 80/20 rule works in reverse, you generally only need to change approx 20% of the things you’re doing wrong to see a whopping 80% result.

By changing just 20% of the way we think, and usually, this is the defeating story and doubt we repeat to ourselves, will be enough to boost you to the 80% mental process needed to accelerate your life and business to soaring new heights.

“Doubt destroys more dreams than failure ever will.”

Once you get your mind in the right place, the story you tell yourself is right, and your attitude is in tact. The 20%, which is effort and action is the easy part, you often hear the phrase ‘Work smarter, not harder’ Personally I would always recommend you DO BOTH!. But once your mindset is right, the work is the easy part.

Here are a few tips on building you mindset into an unstoppable force:

1. Give praise to others

Real winners always give 100% genuine praise, people who get jealous and hate on their peers doing well usually have low self-confidence. So start by shifting the way you look at others, and give 100% praise.

2. Stand like a winner

Research says that just a few minutes of power positions or power postures change your mindset. Standing like you have a purpose, like superman, hands on your hips. These power stands change the way you feel, and science tells us the way you move, changes the way you feel.

3. Surround yourself with positive people

The easiest way to stop you having negative thoughts is to surround yourself with less negative people and increase the positive people you spend time with. You become a product of the environment you spend most of your time.

4. Be sure to celebrate the wins

Be a kid, if you get a win, no matter how little be sure to celebrate it. Don’t feel guilty for winning, it what will keep driving you on. Be happy with the wins, and use them to springboard for the next, you don’t have to wait for the big win to celebrate.
