A few months ago, I got on a call with a guy earning seven figures, leading a team, and still feeling stuck.
“I’m doing all the right things,” he said.
“But I still feel like an imposter. Like it’s all about to crash.”
Here’s what I told him:
You don’t need a new strategy. You need a new self-concept.
Because no matter how smart, driven, or disciplined you are—
you will never outperform the identity you hold underneath it all.
you will never outperform the identity you hold underneath it all.
One Coaching Tip — You can’t out-execute a broken self-image.
Your mind is like a thermostat.
Set it to 21°C, and no matter how hot life gets, it’ll cool things down until you’re back to the familiar.
Same goes for success, confidence, even happiness.
If deep down, you still see yourself as average…
If you believe you’re not ready, not good enough, not “that kind of person”…
You’ll unconsciously sabotage anything that challenges that identity.
New habits won’t stick.
Big opportunities won’t land.
Big opportunities won’t land.
Progress will stall—until your self-image catches up.
That’s why real transformation isn’t about doing more.
It’s about becoming different.
And identity work?
That’s the core of what we do inside InnerCircle—the private space where I work closely with entrepreneurs ready to break those invisible ceilings. (More on that soon.)
One Thing to Try — Say it out loud.
Complete this sentence today:
“I’m the kind of person who __________.”
Then say it out loud, with certainty.
Even if it feels awkward. Even if you’re not fully there yet.
Because repetition rewires belief.
And belief shapes behaviour.
(Do it daily and watch your operating system upgrade.)
One Question to Ask Yourself —
What identity are your habits reinforcing right now?
