What is it that makes people uber successful? And success is different for everyone, so the first thing I would suggest is to find out what success means to you.
Is it wealth? Is it Freedom, is it power? I ran a Poll over on my Twitter @Jon_Covey account a few days ago asking that exact question, ‘What does success mean to you?’
Not one person answered the question saying it was about power, most voted for Freedom and Wealth, and 12% voted for other.
The extension to this question is this:
What does success mean to you?
Are you doing everything within your power to achieve it?
I feel that for most people, they’re simply lost, they have no purpose, a mission or why, and without these targets, these goals, or desires you spend a significant proportion of your time running a busyiness, not a business. You fill up the day with busy tasks instead of productive ones, you play on social media with no strategy or game plan, and attend network meetings and events with no agenda.
I know all this because this is the exact things I do or did… and still do from time to time.
So to anchor back to the start of this post, let me ask you again. What does success mean to you?
If its wealth, that’s GREAT. Don’t let anyone shame you in to thinking this is a bad thing; wealth is NOT a bad thing! And anyone who tells you it’s not important, don’t have any wealth, that’s why it’s not important to them.
You need to build as much wealth as possible in the quickest time possible. This will help you in all areas of your life and business going forward. DONT let others convince you to give up on your dream just because they have given up on theirs.
If its freedom you identify as the success, then be very clear on what freedom means to you. Is this location independence, a lifestyle business, a travelling CEO, financial freedom, spontaneity… etc. Freedom is your choice, so identify what it means to you. And be sure you’re working towards it each day.
I Wrote a manifesto last year, and one of the rules I pledged to live by was to ask myself daily if what I was doing is taking me closer to my goal, at each moment of the day, wondering is this bringing me closer to where I want to be. And if it’s not, then stop doing it, or finish the task fast and get back on point.
I don’t have all the answers, all I have is what works for me, and if it works for me, then it can work for you. So to answer the opening question, what makes people uber successful? We do!
As always I hope you enjoy the read, have I missed anything? Have your say in the comments.
