If you’ve been waiting for a sign to focus on YOU, this is it.

Simple Steps to protect your way to success

We are literally surrounded by information; you see mass updates everyday through social channels such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, not to mention newer broadcast streams such as Periscope and Meercat.

You hear the news in the car, on the TV, and in local coffee shops. We are in a news overload era, and for the most part the news you hear is full of negativity, bad things happening in the world, accidents in your local area, crime, and world disaster.

Is it any wonder that things are hard for you on a daily basis. When all you read, hear and see is bad things.

Yet as easily as we allow this negative spew to be projected upon us, we can just as easily replace this news overload with positivity.

The most important thing you can do to ensure you protect yourself from this negative spew is surround yourself with an environment filled with positivity, this may sound alien, and maybe even feel alien at first. But like any habit, after consistently applying these techniques, they create a new habit.

So the first steps you need to take is to understand where this spew comes from, because it really is everywhere.

Step 1. Surround Yourself With The Right People
Nothing will be more influential than the people you spend time with, be sure the people you’re with are positive, and going places.

You have probably heard the saying that you become the average of the five people you spend the most time with, but you also earn an average of the people you spend the most time with.

Step 2. – Stop Watching TV
Honestly ask yourself what do you watch on TV, is it what’s happening on Eastenders, who’s the finalists on X-factor, or Benefit Street. How can any of this spew help you achieve your goals?

Have you ever wondered why Lamborghini or Ferrari doesn’t advertise their cars on TV? They don’t, because the people who can afford them don’t sit around wasting time watching TV.

If you must watch TV, why not watch educational/motivational videos or films, things like The Secret, or seminars, TED talks.

Step 3. – Social Media
Social media eats up lots of our time, and can be really powerful. But protect yourself from the content you get delivered. Follow, like and connect with positive news, motivational updates and educational content.

Many life coaches, motivational leaders and influential people reach out to social media to connect the world with these positive affirmations. Follow them, I post inspirational quotes each day, see more here.

Step 4. – In Your Car
The average person drives approximately 12,000 miles each year, that’s over 500 hours a year sat in the car. Simply listening to audiobooks can help you to not only learn more, but also become an industry leader in your field.

Your car can become a mobile learning zone, free from distractions, free from stress, and free from the negative spew of the radio.

Step 5. – Read More
A few years ago the thought of reading didn’t appeal to me, yet now I struggle to go through a week without the need to read. So instead of picking up the newspaper, pick up a book.

Discover what world leaders do to bring success to their life’s, read motivational self help books (You can my top recommendations here). You can have the greatest leaders and minds of the world at your fingertips.

These are just a few ways that you can protect yourself from the world of negative spew, other things you can do include:

Attend local networking meetings
Attend seminars
Visualise your goals daily (FREE Goal card Template here)
Create a vision board
I promise if your start protecting yourself each day from the negative overload of news, you will start to see a big shift in your life. Stay away from the negative people, and if that happens to be family, don’t visit as often, and don’t stay as long.
