Which Platform Is Best For Building My New Website?

When it comes to creating your website, you are now spoilt for choice when choosing how you want to get started.

It’s essential to remember that your website must help your target audience solve a problem, so don’t think the website is about you, make it about them. To help with this, I have a FREE 4-part video series which you can get here (Get The Free Course)…

Now you can hire an agency, and some will require you to remortgage your house, while others you’ll be able to pay for with your sock money.

My best advice here is this –– if the agency asks you if you have seen anything you like, or for your input, run a mile, they will happily take your money and you’ll be left with a gorgeous website that does nothing other than sitting pretty.

Your website MUST be built for your target audience, not for you.

Ok, let’s assume that you want to build it yourself, which can be both fun and challenging, in equal measures. But, it can also be incredibly satisfying when you realise that you have taken an idea from your head and transformed this into a digital piece of art.

To get started with your website development journey, here are some options that you can use to build that excellent digital piece of glorious joy…

My Top Six Website Builders Ranking List:

WordPress
WIX
Squarespace
Kajabi
Teachable
Mailchimp

WordPress
WordPress is the clear winner when it comes to websites, and approx 30% of all websites are built using WordPress. It’s easy to use, it’s vast, and almost every extra you will ever need is available as a plugin.

With an ever-growing list of themes, you can be sure to find a concrete building block for your website.

My No.1 choice for developing a highly converting website.

WIX
Wix was founded on the belief that the Internet should be accessible to everyone to develop, create and contribute. Through free and premium subscriptions, Wix empowers millions of businesses, organisations, professionals and individuals to take their companies, brands and workflow online.

I spoke with Reuven J. SherwinVP of Product at WIX about their platform

Squarespace
With Squarespace, you have a ton of options available and some beautifully designed themes to choose from. It’s a simple to use platform that, for some, will fit all of their requirements, and I genuinely have not heard a bad thing said about Squarespace.

Kajabi
Kajabi takes things up a gear, and this is more about selling your knowledge, combined with email marketing and a sale platform.

You can build your website, host videos, build online courses, sell those course and create automated email campaigns—a good choice for those wanting to develop a membership-based business model.

Teachable
I have a lot of love for Teachable, I love how easy it is to build your online course, and I use it to run all my courses.

You can build your website inside of the platform and then sell training and online course from your site, take the payments and even email your students from the dashboard—another excellent choice for those wanting a membership-based business model.

Mailchimp
We have seen so much change with Mailchimp over the last few years, once my No.1 choice for email marketing, although initially somewhat basic, it just did the job incredibly well.

Nowadays, they off a full marketing suite which allows you to build landing pages, your website, manage social media and send automated email campaigns.

A little late to the space, but a good solid choice if you want something all in one.
